I am wondering where were those students 20 years ago..they were probably toddlers then. I can sense their remoteness since they are so far from it, just like the genoicde of the Jews during World War II. It will be a different story if his intention is like Jackie Chan, trying to kiss up to get his concert in the Bird's Nest. Here is Anson Chan's 陳方安生 response from her Yahoo 信箱 on Jackie's quote -
Regardless of the intention of the likes of Jackie Chan, and this disgraced "student leader" Chan, I am still glad to know that the conscience of the majority fellow Hong Kong citizens is alive and well. It has been over 70 years since the Japanese massacred Nanking, but it did not make it any less painful to re-read that part of our history. Nearly 20 years have passed since the People's Liberation Army massacred Beijing, and now we should be blaming the students for that criminal act committed by a government? No matter how remote a historical event is, the lesson has to be learned, and those responsible must be judged by history as criminals, whoever they are, and wherever they are.
