Welcome to 四 海 一 家!

You should be given 2 honors for the circumstances under which you join:

(A) As the only one signing up on July 4th (at least as of 4 pm EST), you should be granted the title of the first Patriotic Day Member of USA!

(B) Since you were the only one who passed Sir Loh's quiz on 金庸小說 at our last gathering, you should also be given the honor of starting a new Group on 金庸.... unless of course if Dr. Sham had been present in our gathering and challenged your status. (Years ago he led a discussion on 金庸小說. I believe I still have the newspaper that reported the event -- I promise I will post it if this 金庸小說 group is ever created by you or Dr. Sham. )

In any event, we are only at the infacy stage of building contents for 四海一家. The sister site 四海百言 (http://iglobalchinesevoices.com) was honored to host a blog for scholarly articles written by 新亭博客, whom you know very well -- do read his biography to figure out who he is.
. You can access 新亭博客
easily because the articles are also featured in the home page. He is taking a summer break right now but more articles will be posted after summer. I have also started a group to discuss his articles in the future (新亭博客研討區, http://www.iglobalchinese.com/group/XinTingDiscussion).

On a separate note: I have a strong belief that the unique expertise you have in the area of risk management, investment banking and life-settlement ventures can be shared among the Chinese community globally, to the benefits of many. I know the US insurance industry (mostly individual life & disability) has made inroads into many Chinese communities, including mainland China, in the recent years. This will likely be followed by health, institutional and liability interests (in fact I believe the Taiwanese have already begun this process). Unfortunately, the general knowledge and awareness among the Chinese population (including entrepreneurs & bussiness executives) is disproportionately low when it comes to liability protection and risk management. The re-construction and re-settlement efforts following the earthquake will likely catalyze an awareness in this area. Hence, someone with your special strengths will be in a unique position to share this knowledge and your insights with the global Chinese community.

Welcome to iGlobalChinese.com and see you here (and at other global locations, including the Virgin Islands on my diving trips) in the near future!
