张艺谋 has a new movie out in September. It's a love story and is supposed to be unlike any of his previous movies.

I read a bit about the storyline and found out that it is based on a novel which is based on a true story.
It is supposed to be very touching. No wonder they say it is not like anything that 张艺谋 has ever done. He has never made any movie that is touching! Visually spectacular, yes, but never touching. If he succeeds with this one, it is a breakthrough for him as an artist. -
