四 海 一 家

The Miele Guide to asian restaurants did a survey and produced the Top 20 Asian Restaurants.

List is here.

3 are in HK:

- Yung Kee
- HuTong
- Fook Lam Moon

Do you agree with the list?

I have been to HuTong, and I can testify that the outside view and inside decor are indeed very impressive. To get an idea, check out its web site.

Oops! The list contains 8 Hong Kong restaurants, not 3.

I was focusing only on the Chinese restaurants, the other 5 are not Chinese:

L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon (Hong Kong)

Grissini (Italian food)

Nobu (Japanese)

Zuma. Apparently HK's prettiest people frequent this place :-)

Caprice (French food)

Has anyone been to any of these restaurants?
I went to 鏞記酒家 Yung Kee recently, I was not impressed with their roast goose. The dish we ordered in the restaurant came with beans and I think it ruined the pure taste of the roast goose. Actually I ordered a takeout couple of years ago and that goose tasted much better. We also ordered frog leg, garlic asparagus and shrimp stir fried with chinese herb. I would give the frog leg a B-, the asparagus a B+ and the shrimp an A-.

Sounds like 鏞記酒家's food isn't that great.

Serving beans with roast goose?! Did they have an intern cooking that day?

HuTong, one of the restaurants on the list, had an out of this world view and the decor inside was original, but the food was actually not good at all.
